Are you feeling a little sluggish as you attempt to do ‘all the things’?

You’re left with a blinking cursor, and you’re at a loss for words.

But now that the holidays are fast approaching …

A little holiday spirit, good ol’ fashion music, and a Merry Ho Ho or a Happy Holidays message can go along way.

To me, there is nothing better than feeling the spirit of Christmas!

As I prep for the holidays and fill up on treats and hot cocoa, I make my way through the last bits of copy before ‘I settle down for a long winter’s nap.’ C. Moore

And if you’re in a celebratory mood like I am, it’s time to wrap up those last-minute purchases, ice the sugar cookies and ensure the dish you prepare for the big dinner on the 25th is even better than the last.

But this year, it feels a little different …

And although we have much to be thankful for, there will be fewer place settings at the table.

In business, we’ve become even more creative to connect and stand out.

But the mere fact we are privy to the likes and loss of those from far and wide is the very reason people want to do more and to make a difference.

And in the spirit of giving and celebration …

I bet you’ve stepped up in one way or another.

To lend a hand, to donate, to offer support, or merely to listen … and for that, I thank you.

There have been life lessons learned and valuable truths told.

In moving forward, we all have much to do.

And before you dive into 2021, allow me to ask you the following:

  1. Are you crafting copy to align with your vision fully?
  2. Do you have a strategy to speak to your ideal audience?

And before you jump to “what does my copy have to do with my ideal audience?”

If you’re not reaching your ideal audience, you’re making a mistake by speaking to the masses.

  1. Establish a relationship with your audience. Respond to their inquiries with invaluable insight.

    Be personal but professional.

    And thoughtfully respond to address concerns or objections within a few hours at best.

    Don’t shy away from asking about their business, challenges, or their day.

    It’s easy to develop a rapport with authenticity!

    But remember, the exchange is not all about you.

  2. Add a dash of personality to each message you put out there. Personality-driven copy helps you establish the like, know, and trust factor with your audience.

    Your dreamy clients want to know who you are, where you’ve been, and how your services can benefit them.

    Ideally, you want prospects to feel as they’re part of your journey.

    Each reader must understand what you do, what’s in it for them, and how it all comes together.

  3. Tell a story. Sharing a moment in time is much more than reciting part of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,’ sharing your favorite childhood tale or guru quotes.

    When you tell a story, it is crafting a picture, setting the scene, and building a narrative your audience resonates with.

    There is a beginning, a middle, and an end.

    And at each stage, you need to be able to use words that draw ideal clients in … all in an effort for them to connect with you and buy from you.

  4. Boundaries. It’s a no brainer … you never want to turn buyers away.

    So, establishing personal and professional limitations are fundamental to the growth of your business.  

    And having a good understanding of what is and what isn’t ideal for sharing must be outlined from the get-go.

    Times have changed.

    We’ve all witnessed the latest moves on Tik-Tok … but there is no room for such influence in your biz.

    Your copy should speak to what you do, how you solve X problem, and give tips and tools to rectify challenges.

  5. Consistency. In your copy development, it’s necessary to establish themes, create a content plan, and craft copy that markets your business.

    If you sell in a corporate space, Tik Tok videos or slang is likely not well received.

    If you display a heavy dose of sass and an overt style to a heart-centered business owner, you’re likely to be ignored.

But if you add a dash of personality, stay consistent with your brand messaging and offer up invaluable insight … your audience will respond in ways that WILL scale your business.
